Probably because we are hitting the road in a few hours to visit my folks in Daytona Beach for Thanksgiving. Should be a fun trip and hopefully Abby won't be too bored in the car for such a long trip. We are gonna meet up with Dana & Aria and caravan until about half way there where Dana will break off and head on down the west coast to Tampa to enjoy her holiday with Nikki. Jenn, Abby and I will continue across the top of Florida to the east coast.

Jenn Joins Facebook

It took over a year, but my bride finally took the plunge and decided to join the rest of us degenerates who have exchanged short leg-stretching breaks from the keyboard for logging in to see who has commented on our pithy status update d'jour.

All-in for Tradition!

After what is literally years of talking about it, I am finally going to start a recurring home poker game and I am really looking forward to playing the role of host. Maybe it's tapping into the side of me that craves 'tradition' or the side that grew up traveling to a friend's house and falling asleep on the couch (in footsie pajamas btw) as my parents and their best friends played "31" late into the night. I still remember watching through drooping eyelids the glow from the dining room at the other end of the house, the laughter, gags and guffaws shared between adult best friends.
First thing I noticed is that the keyboard doesn't change to landscpe mode in the squarespace app. My phone is lying on the desk an I'm trying to type as fast as I can to push the limits of the auto correct... looking back over text, not too shabby.

Lots to look at with the app. Very robust and has received rave reviews. Gonna try to take a pic and insert it next.

Let's just suffice to say that I now have a new full-time design job in Athens, nearly all my LEGACY MDG projects are finished, Jenn has successfully fundraised and walked 60 miles for the Atlanta Breast Cancer 3Day Walk (check out the pictures from flickr in the right column), Daddy DayCare has ended leading Abby & Aria into child care at a nice woman's home 3 houses from Jenn's Mom, Jenn is writing the teacher's manual to a new textbook, the back yard is finally mowed and the ant hills have been treated, and my home office has been thoroughly cleaned.

Especially when she needs assistance if trying to get up in a chair, getting a piece of clothing unstuck from around her neck or arm, or pretty much anythign she actually needs with accomplishing. It is so much easier to diffuse her frustration when we can come back at her with a more specific question - but usually, just by observing the situation we can figure out what she needs helps with and give her a hand. This also opens the door for responding with "You can do it"... and a little positive reinforcement doesn't hurt anyone :)

The first incident was an act of Aria - her and Abby were standing next to each other at a short table I like to use to put snacks and drinks on near the kitchen doorway. They got into a subtle little "I want to get closer" shoving match and an instant later Abby turned to me screaming with tears in her eyes. Aria had bit her upper arm - a good one , too. A little ice and TLC calmed Abby from her "Why did she do that" look on her face and before too long all was fine with the toddler world again.

Then about 3 or 4 days later, the two of them were standing next to each other again in front of the couch - and in front of Jenn and I and after a short struggle to get closer to Jenn Aria was the one to start crying for Abby had bit her on the arm. Another good bite and then that was it. It's been over a week and the two of them have been around each other numerous times without a hint of the best cannibalistic rage an 18 month old could muster.

They still both sing each others' names when you get in the car and tell them they are going to the other's house to play. No mess, no foul.... life goes on in Castle Gonyea.
